CONRAD MANICOM –
Toyota 8FGCU25 I want to be able to lift empty sea containers (49-5100lbs) to be able to stack on one another. I would need to lift up 9-10 ft. Would this unit be able to handle this or would that be too much weight when the container is up that high in the air
Andy Guild –
This will be too light. Forklift capacity is rated by load center – so how far the load is from the lifting carriage. Most forklifts have a 24″ load center. The load center of an empty shipping container is going to be 48″. And the width of a shipping container will be an issue. The widest the forks can be set on a forklift this size is about 36″ between the forks. You’ll need the forks set much wider to safely lift a shipping container 10 feet in the air.

Any idea what the degree of incline the 8FGCU25 can handle without bottoming out?
Andy Guild –
The max gradeability with a load is 30%. Without a load is 17%. That answers the question of bottoming out be default, because any steeper grade and the forklift wouldn’t have the power to go up anyway.

What are specifications on the backrest for this model?
Andy Guild –
Backrest sizes are optional. Typical backrest height is about 48″ total height. Width depends on your sideshift width. And mounting holes depend on what’s on the sideshift – front or side mount and distance between the mounting holes.

Does this lift truck have a Class IV Carriage?
Andy Guild –
The Toyota 8FGCU25 has a Class II carriage.

What’s the min. and max. weight of the battery?
Andy Guild –
The 8FGCU25 model has an internal combustion engine. So it only has a small starter battery like you would find in a car. If you’re looking for the min and max battery weight for the Toyota 8FBCU25 I can get you the minimum battery weight – 2400lbs for 36 and 48 volt models. I don’t have the maximum weight info.
Andy Guild –
Error code E67-1 is a lift height sensor error. There is a gray apparatus on the right side of the mast – about 3-4 feet off the ground that senses both tilt and lift height, I think. We have found broken wires going to this unit. The way the wires are secured to the mast causes a lot of rubbing and wear. We’ve fixed the wires several times and this makes the code go away.

The warning light with the wavy line inside a circle means the coolant level is low. The Toyota 4Y engine uses gold color coolant.

Good afternoon.
What is the point loading of each wheel for a Toyota 8FGCU25? Is it as simple as diving the weight of the vehicle across all four wheels to arrive at a point load of 2000lb?
Andy Guild –
Here’s the closest I can get you to an answer:
Weight distribution loaded – front/rear: 11310lbs / 1690 lbs
Weight distribution no load – front/rear: 2820lbs / 5180 lbs

Can I put other tires on my Toyota 8FGCU25 so I can drive from one building to another on crushed rock? If so, what size and type of tires would I use?
Andy Guild –
You couldn’t put pneumatic shaped solids on a Toyota 8FGCU25. The best you can do is a lugged/treaded cushion tire. The drive tire size is 21x7x15. The steer tire size is 16x5x10.5

Hi Andy, You seem very knowledgeable on these forklifts, I am having a issue with cold starting, it does not start at all in the morning, starts easily with a little squirt of easy start and then runs and starts perfectly afterwards for the rest of the day, would this be something you have experienced before? Thanks, John.
Andy Guild –
Sounds like a fuel system issue. The LP vaporizer has a drain valve on the bottom. Open that up and you might have a bunch of sludge drain out. If you do that should help with starting. There’s also an adjustment screw on top of the vaporizer – it might be covered by a small round cap. It only needs a slight turn to adjust the fuel mixture. Good luck!
